Buddy teamed up with Sawyer Fulton and Troy McClain against Colin Cassady, Angelo Dawkins, and Wesley Blake. He lost his effort against The Ascension on the 15th May 2014 episode of NXT, where he was teamed with Elias Samson.

“He formed a tag team with Wesley Blake in August 2014. They got defeated in the first round of a ruling contender tag team tournament by The Lucha Dragons.

Adams and his team continuously lose multiple matched to The Lucha Dragons and The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) during the entire year of 2014.

And in October 2014, they got eliminated from the number one contender tag team battle royal after losing a match with The Ascension”.

Murphy was able to retrieve himself when Murphy and Blake defeated The Vaudevillains on the 21 January 2015 NXT episode. The team quickly challenged The Lucha Dragons for a title match and beat them on the 28 January episode of NXT. Then they won the NXT Tag Team Championship, which made Murphy the first-ever Australian to hold a WWE championship.

Career Highlights

After earning early success along with Wesley Blake, including a 2015 Tag Team title reign, which lasted for 219 days, he had to maintain an image of a real man on each match. Even worse, he struggled for an opportunity to place forth his best performance due to established creative constraints.

By 2016, the tag team, Blake and Murphy – which had been rocking the entire WWE show along with manager Alexa Bliss was no longer. He went through an absolute NXT rock bottom when he could not make an appearance on television for a whole year as a competitor wrestler.

But Buddy Murphy is not a man who gives up. He made a career-altering epiphany at the end of 2017 during the final road loop for NXT’s live tour with the series of matches against Aleister Black. He not just conquered the night for three subsequent days but rejuvenate his entire wrestling career with the mind-blowing performance.

With such an exceptional match, he started working consistently and further focused on improvising his skills and slimming down his body from 230 pounds to the cruiserweight limit. After being fully prepared, he messaged WWE producer Adam Pearce who announced ‘205 Live’ tournament championship crown.

Although he didn’t win the tournament, he definitely became noticed and his new moves created jaw-dropping effects on mass. He built the reputation of being one of the best workers in the company.

Career Highlights

Buddy Murphy helped in building ‘205 Live’ as a destination for wrestling fans showcasing his work ethic and massive storyline. Here, he felt the need to cut weight to make the cruiserweight limit.  He was able to simulate what an MMA fighter has to go through before weighing in to add to the realism. He took the pride of his transformed body and his hard work to reach that very place.

On Oct 6, 2018, Murphy won the cruiserweight championship defeating Alexander in Melbourne Cricket Ground at WWE Super Show-Down. He earned his first major championship in front of his hometown fans in Australia.

This was a proud ‘WrestleMania’ moment for him and his career. It also gave him a chance to showcase his passion for wrestling in front of his family, who weren’t much supportive of his career choice.

Murphy strategically took some time off from TV to further refine his moves despite being announced as the main roster call-up to ‘SmackDown Live’ in April.  It wasn’t until earlier this year that Murphy started showing up frequently on screen and created forceful impacts.

He created an image for himself as a legitimate future star, just like ‘Hulk Hogan’ and John Cena.’ Whenever his background music plays during the entrance, fans go crazy, cheering and hooting his name, which is a sign of significant accomplishments on a wrestling career.

We hope to see him continuously steal the show and take advantage of all the grand opportunities that lie ahead of him.
