Matthew started his professional wrestling career since 2000 with the ring name “Sterling James Keenan,” a name combined from Sterling Sharpe and Maynard James Keenan.
His first professional official debut match was on March 22, 2000, in independent promotions. Keenan’s first-ever title won was with Chris Cage, where they defeated the team of London and Windsor to win the Funkin Conservatory Tag Team Championship.
Keenan then won his first individual championship title of Intense Wrestling Heavyweight Championship, winning a 30-Man gauntlet match on February 24, 2008.
During his wrestling career, Corey Graves had been to several wrestling promotions like International Wrestling Cartel, One Pro Wrestling, World Wrestling Entertainment, and many more.

Polinsky signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment in August 2011. He was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where he got his new ring name, “Corey Graves.”
Graves lost his debut match at FCW against Erick Rowan. But in the following year, he was able to rin the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship with Jake Carter on March 17, 2012.
