Bautista began his professional wrestling career since 1999 at World Championship Wrestling (WCW) Power Plant. Afa Abnoa trained him in a wrestling school at Wild Samoan Training Center.

He had his first debut match on October 30, 1999, like Khan. Bautista trained with several great personals like Marrese Crump, Cesar Gracie, Eskrima, etc.

Dave Bautista was officially signed by WWF in 2000 and began to wrestle from Ohio Valley Wrestling. Bautista won the OVW Heavyweight Championship title against “Doug Basham” and lost to The Prototype.

He then joined WWF’s leading roaster, where he had his debut match in a tag team match with D’Von. The team was unbeaten unless they got separated after Bautista got punched by his teammate D’Von.

So, taking advantage of John Cena’s tiredness, he defeated Cena and retrieved the WWE Championship title once again.
