Early Life and Childhood

Born on April 11, 1969, Goldust spent his childhood in his homeland Austin, Texas, United States of America. His mother’s name is Sandra Runnels and father, Dusty Rhodes, who was also a professional wrestler and known as WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.

Goldust’s father died in 2015 a few years after being WWE Hall of Fame. His half-brother, Cody Rhodes, is also a professional wrestler known as Stardust.

Professional Wrestling Career

Goldust began his life’s first professional wrestling debut on September 13, 1988, as Dustin Rhodes, where he wrestled against Bob Cook and won his debut match. His first match was for the Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF) promotion.

Runnels then got his World Championship Wrestling (WCW) debut in an undercard tag team match with Kendall Windham against the cruel connection. They got a triumphant victory against them and got defeated against “The Original Midnight Express” at a house show.

Runnels traveled Japan for All Japan Pro Wrestling under the name Dusty Rhodes Jr. Goldust then wrestles in United States Wrestling Association (USWA), where he feuded with Tony Anthony for CWA Heavyweight Championship but was never successful in winning the belt. So then he left the USWA in 1990.

Goldust joined WCW, forming a tag team with Barry Windham, then began to pursuing WCW Tag Team Champions. Before the match, his partner got injured, which is why Ricky Steamboat became his Tag Team partner. They were able to defeat WCW Tag Team Champions and became the Champions themselves. They lost the title to Arn Anderson and fellow Dangerous Alliance on January 16, 1992.

World Wrestling Federation (WWF)

Runnels returns to WWF in August 1995 as a negative character, where he was named “The Bizarre One” due to his mysterious behavior. Runnels uses his mind games to distract his opponents and win the match. Goldust began to wear his trademark custom of the golden-colored jumpsuit and golden face paint.

Goldust won his first singles title of Intercontinental Championship against Ramon by the interference from 1-2-3 Kid. He defended his title against Savio Vega and The Ultimate Warrior before losing to Ahmed Johnson. Goldust has a shot at winning WWF Championship against Shawn Michaels but lost the match on Ladder match.

Goldust returned WCW in January 2001, assisting his father against Jarrett and especially with Ric Flair. In March, WCW became WWF neglecting to acquire Runnel’s contract.

Runnel feud with Rob Van Dam by attacking him on Raw. Van Dam then defeated him in No Way Outmatch. He then moved to hardcore division and won Hardcore Championship on nine occasions.

When the WWF was renamed as WWE, and the main roaster was divided into Raw and SmackDown, Goldust was assigned to Raw, where he formed a tag team with Booker T. Goldust, and Booker T won the World Tag Team Championship at Armageddon on Raw.

On the honoring of the 800th episode of Raw, Goldust appeared by dancing alongside his father, Dusty Rhodes, and other wrestlers. Runnels frequently participated in the Royal Rumble match, where he once eliminated his half-brother Cody Rhodes. On January 27, 2013, at another Royal Rumble match, Goldust was eliminated by Cody Rhodes, teasing a possible feud.

When Cody Rhodes got fired by Triple H and lost his WWE Championship title to Randy Orton, Goldust came and faced Orton for the title but got defeated. After that, Goldust’s father, Dusty Rhodes, returned in WWE to ask Stephanie for rehiring Cody Rhodes. His father was knocked down by Big Show in return both of Rhodes got their jobs back and teamed up as a Tag team partner and started to defeat everyone on their way.

Goldust is a second-generation WWE superstar after his father, Dusty Rhodes, who passed away in 2015 after the achievement of WWE Hall of Fame. Goldust is married to Terri Runnels in 1993, who served as a manager in WWE.

This sweet couple has a daughter named Dakota Avery. Goldust and Terri got separated in 1999, then Goldust married Milena Martelloni in 2002. Again the couple got divorced, and Goldust was currently married to Ta rel Roche in 2012.
