Johnny Joseph Gargano is an American professional wrestler whom we best know for his time on World Wrestling Entertainment under the ring name “Johnny Gargano.”

Joseph is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment where he performs on the NXT brand. He is a former NXT Champion, NXT Tag Team Champion, and NXT North American Champion.

During his career as a professional wrestler, Gargano has been to several other wrestling promotions and achieved success by winning several titles.

Johnny Joseph Gargano aka, Johnny Gargano was born on August 14, 1987, in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. At an early age of eight, he entered a professional wrestling ring of Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling along with his father.

During his high school in St. Edward High School, he decided to become a professional wrestler and started to train at the age of 16 in Cleveland All-Pro Training Center. He was trained under J.T. Lightning and Josh Prohibition.

Gargano was mostly influenced by Shawn Michaels, Johnny Saint, and Chris Jericho to become a professional wrestler.

Joseph had his first professional wrestling debut in 2005 for CAPW wrestling promotion. He got his first championship title “CAPW Junior Heavyweight Championship” on October 8, 2006, winning a four-way match defeating Josh Prohibition, M-Dogg 20, and Zach Gowen.

Gargano has wrestled in dark matches at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling where he got into the injury of a hairline fracture in his back that led him lost of six months to recover.

Absolute Intense Wrestling

Joseph made his Absolute Intense Wrestling on February 26, 2006, with a losing effort against Kano. Gargano became the number one contender to the AIW Intense Division Championship defeating Josh Prohibition.

He became the Intense Division Championship in a 30-minute Iron Man match on May 25 defeating Tyler Black. Gargano had to leave the title after 187 days of the reign due to his injury on November 28, 2008.

Johnny again won the vacant Intense Division Championship and regained the title-winning the tournament.

World Wrestling Entertainment

Johnny Gargano took part in a WWE tryout camp to join the WWE promotion in June 2015, by was unable in his first try. He kept trying over a few months making appearances for NXT teaming with Tommaso Ciampa.

On July 21, Johnny Gargano signed a full-time NXT contract that prevented him from taking further wrestling promotion bookings. On August 20, Gargano and Ciampa became new NXT Tag Team Championship defeating The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson).

The match between Johnny Gargano and Andrade “Cien” Almas was rated five stars since the match between John Cena Vs. CM Punk in 2011.

Gargano won his first NXT Championship title at the event of two-out-of-three falls match against Adam Cole which also made him the first-ever NXT Triple Crown Champion.
