Early Life and Childhood of Mason Ryan

Mason Ryan was born on 13th January 1982, from Carys and Malcolm Griffiths. He spent his childhood with her sibling Catrin in Tremadog.

His primary schooling took place in  Ysgol y Gorlan primary school in Tremadog and later in Ysgol Eifeionydd in Porthmadog. After studying construction management at Cardiff University for 18 months, Malcolms worked as a trainee carpenter and his family’s funeral home.

Before becoming a wrestler, Griffiths played football as centreback for Porthmadog FC. However, he could not further his career in so due to severe knee injury.

When Mason Ryan went to the wrestling show with a friend, the promoter recommended Mason to make a career out of it. So, following his advice, he began training at a professional wrestling school in Birkenhead in 2006.

Before joining WWE, he competed in almost 100 matches in countries including Egypt and Venezuela. Son of Malcolm, represented the UK in a Battle of the Nations Tag Team match between the UK and Austria, teaming with Drew McDonald and Sheamus O’Shaunessy.

Before appearing on Gladiators, Griffiths had wrestled under the ring names Celtic Warrior and Smackdown Warrior since 2007. He competed around Europe for the next three years and finally signed a contract with WWE in 2009.

He made his first appearance as Mason Ryan in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In July 2010, he won the FCW and held the championship for eight whole months.

In January 2011, he made his main roster debut where he aligned himself with The New Nexus after interfering in a match between CM Punk and John Cena.

He actively participated in fights and showdowns where he was put up against the likes of John Cena and Kane, which led him to receive much smaller roles.

After a while, Mason got engaged in the rebranded system NXT, where he stayed for the rest of his WWE career. He was released from the contract in 2014.

Though Griffiths days are over in WWE, he has left an image of a powerhouse, a human who seems to be crafted solely for the part of a professional wrestler in WWE Universe.

In 2015, Mason Ryan married his long-term partner Julie Rolfe who is a Legends Football League player. Mason Ryan is currently living in Tampa, Florida, with his loving wife.
