Rusev was born on December 25, 1994, in Plovdiv, People’s republic of Bulgaria. He completed his study in a sports school where he learns rowing and powerlifting.

Rusev’s Professional Wrestling Career
Early Career (2008 – 2010)
Rusev had a big dream of becoming a professional wrestler, which is why he went to the United States in the mid-2000s. He began to train under Gangrel and Rikishi at the Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy.
Miroslav had his first debut professional match at New Wave Pro Wrestling on November 22, 2008. He successfully defeated Aerial Star in his debut match.
Rusev then joined Vendetta Pro Wrestling (VPW) in 2010, a California-based independent promotion shortening his ring name to Miroslav.
World Wrestling Entertainment
Miroslav Barnyashev was signed by professional wrestling promotion World Wrestling Entertainment in September 2010. He was currently assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in Tampa, Florida.
While wrestling in FCW, Rusev adopted a new ring name of Alexander Rusev. He won his first television match on July 17, 2011, where he defeated Mike Dalton while being managed by Raquel Diaz.
Rusev also learned martial art Muay Thai while traveling to Thailand to improve his wrestling skills.
He broke his neck and tore both of his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his initial phase of a wrestling career. Also, I had a temporary arm paralyzed.
Rusev then made NXT television debut on May 30, 2013, after getting healed and more energetic. In his debut match, he competes in a battle royal entering on number one, which was won by Bo Dallas.
He lost his first singles match on NXT against Dolph Ziggler on August 21. Rusev then teamed up with Scott Dawson as “The Fighting Legionnaires.”
They started to feud with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. Miroslav then had his main roster match against Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Sin Cara with a win.
United States Championship (2014 – 2015)
Rusev, with his manager Lana came back to the main roster of WWE squashing Zack Ryder. He was anti-American who holds a Russian flag and named “Hero of the Russian Federation.”
Huge Russian supporter and Bulgarian beast were unbeaten for several months, where he defeated Xavier Woods and R-Truth at Extreme Rules in a two-on-one handicap match.
He also defeated Big E, Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, and Big Show in the following matches.
Rusev got his first-ever professional wrestling championship title “United States Championship,” defeating Sheamus on November 3.

Bulgarian world wrestler Rusev was married to Catherine Perry, also known as Lana as a women wrestler in WWE. The beautiful couple was married in July 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Rusev became a permanent citizen of America on September 27, 2019.
Sadly the couple got divorced on November 19, 2019, where Lana made an announcement that she has officially filed for divorce against his husband, Rusev.
Lana was then married to Bobby Lashley, with whom he got feuded for a couple of months afterward.
