Early Life and Childhood
Lee is a daughter of Bob and Terri Lee, who was born and raised in Hope Township of Michigan. She has spent a fair share amount of time in competitive powerlifting. After graduating from Meridian High School in 2010, she went on to study diagnostic medical sonography at Delta College in Bay City, Michigan.

WWE (2015-2016)
In June 2015, Lee was among the thirteen finalists in the sixth season of the WWE competition Tough Enough. She was at risk of elimination five times throughout the competition.
However, on August 25, with lots of fan votes, she got chosen as one of the winners, along with Josh Bredl, which led her to earn a $250000 one-year contract with WWE. With the ring name of Hope, she lost a single match to Alicia Fox during the finals.
Lee was assigned to WWE’s developmental territory, NXT, based at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, in September to start her vigorous training. On January 16, 2016, she made her first appearance for NXT at a live event where she delivered a heel promo.
During January 30 live event, she made her debut in the ring at a six-Diva tag team match with fellow Tough Enough competitor Mandy Rose. After the end of one full year at WWE, Lee was released from the contract on September 30, 2016.

Rumors were spreading all over the internet about Sara Lee- the winner of the female Tough Enough, being released from the WWE developmental contract because of her initial announcement regarding her pregnancy on Facebook with her husband, Wesley Blake.
But according to PWInsider reports, that the real reason behind her release was simply because she was not progressing in the ring.
It appears as if ‘the curse’ of Tough Enough has affected Lee too because only a few people have been successful in making a career from Tough Enough, for example, John Morrison and now-Former Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

WWE superstar and Tough Enough alum Many Rose, who was a guest on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia, talked about Lee during her interview about her contentious relationship with Sara Lee.
Rose ended up being a runner-up to Lee based on fan voting, but eventually, she received a developmental deal by WWE. During their season, Rose continually dismissed Lee for her lack of passion for wrestling. She said she was portrayed as a mean girl during her entire time there for the sake of the camera.
