Early Life of The Miz
The Miz, son of George Mizanin and Barbara Pappas who was born on October 8, 1980, and raised in Parma, Ohio. His parents got separated and divorced while he was a child.
Miz was then raised with his step-father and two half-siblings. He completed his high school education from Normandy High School, where he was the captain of the basketball game.
Miz was also a great swimmer who used to take part in swimming competitions. He then went to Miami University for his higher studies and became a member of Theta Chi and gained knowledge about Richard T, Farmer School of Business.

The Miz’s Professional Wrestling Career
Ultimate Pro Wrestling (2003 – 2004)
With the aim of becoming a professional wrestler, Miz joined Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), where he began his wrestling training at the Ultimate University.
Michael made his first-ever ring debut in 2003 as The Miz. At UPW, he participated in UPW’s Mat War’s tournament and reached the finals against Tony Stradlin, where he lost the competition.
World Wrestling Entertainment
Tough Enough Competitor (2004)
Michael joined the Tough Enough, a television competition in October 2004, which was awarded as the winner by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He signed the contract of $1,000,000.
In an arm-wrestling competition, he outlasted six of his competitors and was able to reach the final round.
With his fantastic time and competition on Tough Enough, he was offered a developmental contract on WWE.
Developmental Territories (2005 – 2006)
Among the several developmental territories, he was sent to Deep South Wrestling (DSW), where he got a chance to train under Bill DeMott. He also got an opportunity to train with McDonough and Georgia in the process.
There he wrestles two dark matches teaming with Matt Cappotelli, a former Tough Enough Champion to face against The Highlanders.
Miz defeated Mike Knox on December 1 to win the Deep South Heavyweight Champion.
His teammate Cappotelli suffered from a brain tumor and has to wrestle on his own. His friend Cappotelli died from brain cancer in 2018.
Miz then participate in OVW promotion on January 3, 2006. He lost his debut match by count-out against Rene Dupree in his first singles game.
With the partner Chris Cage, on February 8, they won the Southern Tag Team Championship title defeating Chet the Jett and Seth Skyfire.
Main Roaster Beginnings (2006 – 2007)
The Miz had his debut on SmackDown on June 2 to host a show. He had other duties on WWE as a backstage interviewing and hosting a bikini contest.
Miz with Ashley Massaro also hosted a show of the annual Diva Search Competition that started in July.
He made his ring debut with a villain character winning against Tatanka on the episode of SmackDown.
Miz remained undefeated for the next three months where he successfully defeated Matt Hardy, Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty.
His winning streak was over by The Boogeyman at December’s Armageddon event.
The Miz got participated in the Royal Rumble match in 2007 entering at number 29 but thrown out immediately by The Great Khali. He lasted only for seven seconds inside the ring.
Teaming with John Morrison (2007 – 2009)
Miz teamed up with John Morrison, with whom he became an excellent and longlasting friend. They are still the tag team partners in 2020 after a long WWE gap of John Morrison.
With the help and support of Morrison, they won WWE Tag Team Championship defeating Matt Hardy and Montel Vontavious Porter.
Miz, along with Morrison, started a WWE website named The Dirt Sheet, where they mock other fellow wrestlers showing off their promotion skills.
They had many successful title defenses for many months before losing it to Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder in a fatal four-way match at the Great American Bash.
On December 13, they won the World Tag Team Championship defeating Kofi Kingston and CM Punk in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
They lost the title at WrestleMania XXV to The Colons in a lumberjack match. The long-lasting friendship and partnership of Miz and Morrison were over after Miz feud with Morrison on April 13.
United States Champion (2009 – 2010)
The Miz began to feud, John Cena, where they had a match at The Bash in June. Miz lost against Cena and got out of the Staples Center, SummerSlam, and the Raw brand.
He then started to compete wearing a mask as The Calgary Kid and defeated Eugene to win a Contract in the storyline.
Miz debuted his finisher, the Skull-Crusher, on Eugene. He also debuted his catchphrase: “Because I’m The Miz.. and I’m awesome.”
He won his first singles championship as the United States Championship defeating Kofi Kingston on October 5.
WWE Champion (2010 – 2011)
Winning Money in the Bank Ladder match on July 18, The Miz got a chance to win the WWE Championship title.
Miz tried to cash in his Money in the Bank contract against WWE Champion Sheamus but was interrupted several times by other wrestlers.
He kept his contract for future use without trying to cash in for a specific period. Miz lost his United States Championship title to Daniel Bryan at the Night of Champions.
On November 22, Miz finally cashes in his Money in the Bank Contract and got victory over Randy Orton, who was defending the WWE title against Wade Barrett. Miz won the match along with the WWE Championship title.
He defended the title against Jerry “The King” Lawler and with Orton in a tables match. Miz again defended the WWE title against Orton at the Royal Rumble match in January.

Michael got happily married to his longlasting girlfriend, Maryse Ouellet, who is a French-Canadian WWE wrestler. The couple was married in The Bahamas on February 20, 2014.
