The comedian has teamed up with Hologic, a medical technology company focused on women’s health, to raise awareness and promote understanding of this condition.
Moreover, she discovered she had fibroids after experiencing heavy bleeding. Despite using both a tampon and a pad, she woke up to find herself in a pool of blood.
Concerned about this alarming episode, she visited her gynecologist, who informed her that she had two fibroids the size of two softballs.
In her interview with Essence, she said that she also learned about fibroids after suffering through them herself.
Fibroids can vary significantly in size, ranging from small to as large as a melon. The location of the fibroids within or outside the uterus can also influence the symptoms, including an enlarged abdomen, heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and fertility issues.
Amber struggled with them all.
By sharing her personal experience, Ruffin aims to shed light on the challenges faced by many women dealing with fibroids. Her collaboration with Hologic is her attempt to make women aware of this health issue.
