According to 12news, the single-engine aircraft, registered to an engraving company in Phoenix, was traveling from Kentucky when it encountered distress, prompting a call to the Hot Springs Airport for permission to land.
However, the Airport has been unable to identify the actual cause of distress. The investigation has been going on to find the actual cause of the mishap with the plane, causing it to dive nose-first into the lake.
Alongside Daniel was his daughter, 23-year-old Denise Jones, who miraculously survived the accident.
The Garland County Sheriff’s Office and multiple agencies swiftly responded to the call the Garland County Communication Center received, dispatching first responders to the scene.
Divers from the local fire department entered the lake and managed to recover Daniel from the wreckage. However, despite their efforts, he was unresponsive and tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
