The events over the past two days have raised rumors that the Chief Minister of Jharkhand may be taken into custody shortly.
High drama has been witnessed in Jharkhand politics over the past thirty hours, with a Chief Minister going “missing” and an investigative agency taking expensive automobiles and cash from one of his residences.
Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, emerged on Tuesday in Ranchi, the state capital, almost thirty hours after sources with the Enforcement Directorate claimed they could not find him.
The investigation agency has requested that Soren come before it in relation to a purported land scam-related money laundering case.
After the investigation agency searched Hemant Soren’s official apartment in Delhi on Monday and found two luxury automobiles and Rs 36 lakh in cash, Soren landed at his Ranchi property.
The last two days have been mostly devoted to the Enforcement Directorate’s search for Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, whom they wish to speak with over a money laundering case.
Is He Arrested For Land Fraud Case?
Talking about Hemant Soren Arrest news, it is said that Jharkhand Chief MInister could be arrested soon.
Following hours of conjecture, Soren eventually made an appearance in Ranchi on Tuesday.
As his cavalcade pulled into his Ranchi residence, Soren was seen waving to the journalists and grinning from his official vehicle.
Later, Soren had a meeting at his official residence with JMM legislators.
There were rumors that his wife, Kalpana Soren, may step in as his replacement should her husband be taken into custody, therefore she attended the conference as well.
In the meantime, the ED office in Ranchi and Raj Bhavan, Soren’s official residence, are both 100 metres apart from Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

What Happened Exactly?
The Enforcement Directorate has been looking into a trail of “proceeds of crime” totaling Rs 100 crore since 2022, which are purportedly the result of illicit mining activities in Jharkhand.
The ED claims that a “huge racket of illegal change of ownership of land by the mafia” in Jharkhand is also a part of the inquiry.
In connection with the investigation, the Enforcement Directorate has detained 14 persons thus far.
Among them is Chhavi Ranjan, an IAS officer from the 2011 batch who held the positions of deputy commissioner of Ranchi and director of the state’s Social Welfare Department.
Reportedly, statements made in compliance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) involve those who have mentioned Soren and those connected to him, including state officials at a high level.
In the meantime, sources from the Enforcement Directorate told India Today TV that they have sufficient proof to connect Soren to benami properties purchased with the proceeds of criminal activity, and that he will probably be detained shortly.
