Isra Gabas, a Palestinian detainee, has finally returned home to occupied East Jerusalem following her release from an Israeli jail.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem reported on Sunday that Jaabis had spent seven years in prison serving an 11-year sentence.
Gabas imprisonment was marked by controversy when, on October 11, 2015, a gas cylinder in her car exploded on her way home, resulting in severe burns covering 60% of her body.
Israeli authorities accused her of planning a “terror” attack, a charge she vehemently denied. Before her release, Israeli police imposed several restrictions, including a ban on celebrations and the evacuation of journalists from her home.
She was among 39 Palestinian women and children scheduled for release from Israeli jails as part of a second batch of a prisoner swap deal with the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.
