She also appreciated the great outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family. The adventures they enjoyed under the open sky forged deep relationships and beautiful memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

She enjoyed gardening and grew vegetables in her backyard regularly. Her hobbies were also relishing camping and cooking for large family gatherings.

Julia McKenna Death Cause: What Happened To Her?

Julie Schmidt McKenna, a San Francisco and Sun Valley, Idaho resident, died on June 3 at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. 

She suffered a stroke at her Sun Valley home and died after a month in the hospital. She was 62 years old at the time.

Her spouse of 52 years, David, preceded her in death in 2016. Her three sons, David Jr., John Wesley, and Stephen Lawrence, as well as her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, survive her (with two more great-grandchildren expected in 2023.)

The family seeks privacy and understanding during this challenging time as they mourn the passing of their beloved Julia.

Her rosary prayer service and reception were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034, on Monday, May 15, 2023. At 4:30 pm, the rosary will begin.

Mckenna Schmidt, the daughter of banker Chauncey E. Schmidt and Anne Garrett McWilliams Schmidt, was raised in Chicago, London, and Woodside, California. 

She attended The Castilleja School in Palo Alto, Smith College in Northampton, MA, and Georgetown University for post-graduate studies.

She married Captain David Joseph McKenna, and they had three wonderful sons who were her pride and delight. She committed her life as a devoted wife and mother to nurturing her family and providing a caring home for them.

She was active in parent activities at the Cathedral School for Boys while their son, Ryan, now a resident of Washington, D.C., was a student there.

After retirement, they wintered in Sun Valley, where they became investors in Bistro 44, a high-end French restaurant popular with residents. 

They spent many summers in Gassin, France, renting a stunning hillside home and entertaining a regular stream of houseguests.
