Mario Balotelli Early Life And Family Details

Mario Balotelli was born in Palermo, Sicily. His parents were immigrants from Ghana. When Mario was two years old, his family moved to Bagnolo Mella in the province of Brescia, Lombardy.

However, when he was three, his family faced financial difficulties and couldn’t afford his healthcare expenses. As a result, Mario was placed in foster care with the Balotelli family.

They lived in Concesio, a town in northern Italy. Initially, Mario spent weekdays with the Balotelli family and weekends with his biological parents. However, as time passed, he became a permanent member of the Balotelli family and adopted their surname.

In June 2012, when Mario scored the essential goals that helped Italy reach the final of the Euro 2012 football championships, he dedicated his success to his foster mother, Silvia.

It’s worth noting that Mario had to wait until he turned 18 to request Italian citizenship since he had yet to be formally adopted by his foster family. Finally, on August 13, 2008, in Concesio, Mario Balotelli officially gained Italian citizenship.
