Daily Mail reported that the blue Lamborghini Urus he and his friends were in collided head-on with a family’s Smart Farfour in Rome, killing a 5-year-old boy, Manuel Proietti, and injuring his mother, Elena Uccello, and 4-year-old sister, Aurora Proietti.
According to the reports published by various media portals, the accident occurred just a few meters away from the kindergarten attended by Manuel and Aurora. It has also been revealed that it was Manuel’s last day of kindergarten, and he was returning home with his mother and sister at the time of the accident.
Reportedly, the incident occurred on Wednesday around 4 pm. Local residents claim that the YouTubers were engaged in a reckless overtaking trick at high speed, taunting other drivers as part of a social media stunt.
Although Matteo is thought to have been operating the car when the incident occurred, there is some disagreement over who was driving. Adding severity to the case, investigators have revealed that Matteo tested positive for cannabinoids, indicating drug use. Similarly, his friends’ statements are also being taken.
Further, municipal agents seized mobile phones and video footage that could potentially implicate the individuals involved under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. For now, the 21-year-old and his friends are being held in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
