Does Lyndon Byers Have Cancer? Renowned as one of the league’s most formidable enforcers, his health condition has currently been in question.

Lyndon Byers, a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player, was born on February 29, 1964, in Nipawin, Canada.

During his career in the National Hockey League (NHL), he played for the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks for parts of ten seasons.

Known for his physical style of play, Byers gained a reputation as one of the league’s toughest enforcers.

Drafted 39th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1982 NHL Draft, he played as a right-wing.

Byers transitioned to the San Jose Sharks as a free agent on November 7, 1992, concluding his NHL career in 1992–93.

He wrapped up his professional playing journey with the Minnesota Moose in the International Hockey League (IHL) during the 1994–1995 season.

His playing career spanned from 1984 to 1995, and he stands at a height of 6 feet 2 inches. Additionally, Byers is the cousin of former NHL forward Dane Byers.

Lyndon Byers does not have cancer, despite ongoing discussions about his health in recent years.

The former professional hockey player has been making headlines, notably appearing on the Hockey Show to entertain his fans.

On 98.5 The Sports Hub, WBZ-FM, a sports radio station based in Boston, Massachusetts, Byers shared stories about his playing days as a former Boston Bruins player.

From Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Byers began his major junior career in 1981 with the Regina Pats of the WHL after a year with the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Boston Bruins recognized his potential, selecting him with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft.

Byers’ gritty playing style earned him a position on Team Canada at the 1984 World Junior Championships in Nyköping, Sweden.

Displaying promise with 32 consecutive goals in Regina, it was the noteworthy penalty minutes (153 and 154) that hinted at his future professional path.

Joining the Bruins towards the end of the 1983–84 season, Byers contributed two goals and four assists, accumulating 32 penalty minutes.

He experienced fluctuations between the NHL and minor leagues, with his most noteworthy statistical season occurring in 1987–88.

During that season, he tallied 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points while amassing 249 penalty minutes in 53 games.

Lyndon Byers Health Update 2024 

Lyndon Byers has a good health in 2024. There are no reports of him facing health issues of any kind. As mentioned above, he recently appeared on a news channel.

Following his playing career, Byers returned to the Boston area, joining the Hill-Man Morning Show on WAAF-FM.

He served as an on-air personality and sports specialist for 23 years until the show concluded.

Byers, along with co-host Mike Hsu, moved to the afternoon slot after the show’s transition.

However, on September 3, 2019, he unexpectedly left the Hsu & LB show, delivering a tearful goodbye on air just moments before walking out of the studio.

WAAF-FM ceased operations less than six months later, and Byers made a final appearance on the last day of station broadcasting.

Beyond radio, Byers made notable appearances on the FX dramedy Rescue Me alongside Bruins fan Denis Leary, as well as former Bruins Cam Neely and Phil Esposito.

Additionally, he had cameo roles in the films Shallow Hal and Stuck On You. Byers was featured on the Season One finale of Bar Rescue on Spike TV.

He and Neely also appeared in the music video for the song “Hole Hearted” by the Boston hard rock group Extreme.
