Dekkers has been accused of playing betting games on the school’s athletics program. It is found that the signal-caller is alleged to have altogether 26 bets were found on Iowa State sporting events which include a 2021 game against Oklahoma State.
During that time, Dekker was placed as a substitute player and didn’t get a chance to play the games. Due to this, he was in suspense that he had been involved in betting.
The Des Moines Register has reported that Dekker is said to have made around 366 mobile games worth more than $2,799. The account was said to be linked with Draftkings.
Due to this controversy, Dekker might face a loss of eligibility for upcoming games as the NCAA prohibits the player who is involved in betting games. But he is not the only athlete alleged in this controversy.
Dekker along with two other student-athletes from his school and were charged by the respective authorities.
