Soumya Vishwanathan was a bright girl who was born to her father, M K Vishwanathan, and her mother, Madhvi Vishwanathan.
Soumya has been attentive and active since her school days. She used to be part of school extra-curricular activities and always spoke forward for her voice to be heard.
In the police report, Soumya Vishwanathan’s parents described her as a kind daughter who loved to be with the people and help others in their time of need.
Journalism was the childhood dream of Soumya. When she completed her diploma in mass communication and public speaking, Soumya joined a local news broadcasting channel.
Later on, when she completed her training as a Journalist, Soumya got hired by Headlines Today news Channel in Dehli.
Soumya Vishwanathan was an energetic rookie on the field who was loved by her seniors and respected by other juniors.
Soumya was always ahead in the row to cover the trending news and was also the anchor of the channel.
Such an amazing soul got killed on 8 September 2023 by an unknown group of men while she was returning home at 3 Am after late night work.
Soumya was found shot dead, a gun penetrating her skull, and a bullet wound was found in her head. She was just twenty-five years old when she was allegedly killed.
The dead body of Soumya Vishwanathan was found several hours after her death, and her parents identified her body.
For several months, Soumya Vishwanathan’s murderers were not known. But after six months of her death, in March 2009, police arrested four persons claiming that they were allegedly involved in her murder case.
Soumya Vishwanathan Murder Case Update
About fifteen years after Soumya Vishwanathan’s death, her soul finally rested in peace, and her family got justice after a long fight and struggle.
On 18 October 2023, Dehli court convicted five people in the murder case of Soumya Vishwanathan.
A Delhi court also held the accused guilty of looting under provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Four people, Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Baljit Mallick, and Akshay Kumar, were held guilty of murder and looting. Similarly, the fifth accused, Ajay Sethi, was held guilty of helping the others.
POlice’s first breakthrough in the case came while it was investigating another murder case, an IT executive, Jigisha Goshe, who was found dead in Faridabad six months after Soumya’s death.
Now, after a long run, the guilt will be finally punished, and more truth will be revealed.
After the decision of the court, speaking to the media, Soumya’s mother said that she had lost her daughter and finally had a slight relief after fifteen years.
Further, Soumya’s mother added that the convicts must get life imprisonment, and from now on, no more daughters will be killed untimely.
