Mound Community Raising Money To Build Eli Hart Memorial Playground
A group of almost 200 people has set out on a journey to raise $200,000 in order to build a playground at Surfside Park in Mound that will be dedicated to Eli Hart’s memory.
In order to earn money for the project, the group started selling handmade bracelets, t-shirts, and wristbands in July.
Residents of the city voiced their wish for a permanent fixture remembering Eli Hart during a community meeting, which gave rise to the concept of establishing a lasting memorial.
Construction on the playground might start this year if the committee is able to raise the required funding.
In addition, the Mound City Council has previously approved a motion to rename a bridge span as the “Eli Hart Memorial Bridge,” in cooperation with Hennepin County.
