This is not the first tragedy the couple has faced. The couple lost their 19-year-old daughter, Victoria, in a scuba diving accident.
Victoria was born in 1975 and died in 1994 at the young age of 19. She is buried in Saint Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale, New York.

In honor of their daughter’s memory, the Rumpels bought an 11-story building in Melbourne and turned the property into a senior living facility called ‘Victoria Landing.’
The facility is named after their late daughter, and the couple aims to make it the best it can be in commemoration of Victoria and in celebration of everything life can and should be.

Who Was Victoria Rumpel, John and Barbara Rumpel Daughter?
Victoria was a beloved daughter of John Rumpel, owner of Encore Motors of Melbourne Inc. in Florida, and Barbara, NRA Executive. She was only 19 years old when she lost her life.
The couple never spoke of Victoria’s accident, which caused them profound pain. 19 is very young, and losing a child at such an age can’t be compared to any other loss.
Both John and Barbara immensely honored their daughter Victoria’s memory and wanted to continue her name in the form of charities. They have made several attempts to keep their daughter’s memory alive, including senior housing.

The private jet was on its way to Long Island, New York, but it turned around and returned to Washington, DC. The plane eventually crashed in the mountainous regions of Virginia.
