Chris Jericho, the son of Ted Irvine who is a Scottish descent and was born on November 9, 1970, in Manhasset, New York.

Jericho starts to show interest in professional wrestling when he began to watch the American Wrestling Association (AWA) during his childhood.

He began to wrestle on Stampede Wrestling after looking at the footage of Owen Hart. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Communication from Red River College in 1990.

Jericho was trained by Ed Langley and Brad Young at the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling. He started to wrestle at the age of 19 on independent shows.

His first debut match was against Storm that ended with a draw. Jericho and Storm went to Japan for Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, where he was trained under Stu Hart.

Jericho won NWA World Middleweight Championship defeating Ultimo Dragon in Mexico. He then won WAR International Junior Heavyweight Champion defeating Gedo in June 1995.

Jericho and Gedo teamed up and won International Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against Yuji Yasuraoka and Lance Storm.

Chris Jericho made his appearance on WCW on August 26, 1996, against Alex Wright. He soon became WCW Cruiserweight Champion after defeating Syxx in Los Angeles, California.

Jericho made his WWF ring debut on August 26, where he loses the match against Road Dogg. The game was ended due to disqualification after a powerbomb on Road Dogg through a table.
