Former Australian Rules Football (ARF) player Cyril Rioli was born on 14 July 1989 in Tiwi Islands, Australia. Cyril played over a decade: 2008-2018 in Hawthorn, carrying the position of Half forward Flank.
During his career, he was four times Australian Football League (AFL) premiership player, three times selected in the All-Australian team, AFLCA best young player, and AlFL Goal of the Year (2009). Similarly, He also won Norm Smith Medal in the year 2015.
However, he prematurely retired from the Hawthorn Club and his career. The main reason for his retirement was that the club president Jeff Kennett commented on the designer pants of Rioli’s wife in a humiliating way.
Later, Cyril said that the reason for the retirement was not only the comment but also the way the club treated and betrayed him for all these years just being an indigenous tribe.
Rioli added he always suggested the club improve the cultural awareness of the members but was always ignored by the club authority.
Cyril Rioli is now spending time with his family in Darwin while working for young indigenous offenders.

Cyril Rioli has two brothers who played in the AFL: Dean and Maurice Jr. Rioli.
Maurice Rioli Jr. is the son of the former Richmond player and Australian Football Hall of Fame member Maurice Rioli Sr.
Maurice Jr., an Australian Rules Football player for Richmond Football Club in the AFL, was born on September 1, 2002. He has 13 years gap with his elder brother Cyril Rioli.
He debuted in 2021, playing for Richmond against North Melbourne, holding the small forward position. Similarly, he is also notable for his ability to apply forward-half pressure and create turnovers among opposition defenders.
Jr. Rioli is regarded as one of the lovable youngsters among the senior player of Richmond who has plenty of tricks to his game.
Furthermore, they appreciate him possessing the trademark Rioli ability to chase and tackle.
He was rewarded for his impressive 2022 season league with a new contract through until 2024.
