14-Year-Old Cyrus Carmack-Belton Shot And Killed By Gas Station Owner
Cyrus Carmack-Belton, 14, was shot to death by a gas station owner Rick Chow, 58, in South Carolina. The shooter has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing the young boy.
Per the owner, he shot the boy because the victim was stealing from his store. As soon as the news went viral, it sparked widespread protests and community outrage.
Although Chow claim Cyrus was stealing from him, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says otherwise. As per the Sheriff, Carmack-Belton did not steal from the Xpress Mart Shell in Columbia on Sunday night.
Further news reveals Chow and his son chased Cyrus out of the store, which gradually led to shooting Cyrus in the back.
Sheriff Lott also expressed his thoughts on the case in the news conference and said, “It’s senseless. It doesn’t make sense.”
He continued, “We have a family that’s grieving; we have a community that’s grieving over a 14-year-old that was shot.”
