While his father died in 2011, Fencesco later went on to become a doctor.  Emanuele’s family describes him as a very happy, talented, and outgoing kid.

The 26-year-old was very passionate about studying. Further, he was a law graduate from Catania, Sicily. Scieri had joined the military to serve his country for a higher purpose.

He had a great passion for learning and was determined to serve his country in Folgore, an Army paratrooper division, after his training course in Florence.

However, his talent and passion for serving the country went crippling down on Monday, 16 August 1999. After completing a training course near Florence, it was his first night in the Pisa barracks.

Scieri was found dead at the foot of the tower, in a remote part of the military compound, two and a half days after his death.

His sudden death attributed much pain to his family and relatives, and his case had been long-running in the court while the family hoped to attain justice.

Emanuele Scieri Storia(History) And Death Cause

The death of Emanuele Scieri, a 26-year-old conscript from the elite Folgore parachute brigade, remains a painful and controversial chapter in Italy’s military history.

On 16th August 1999, Scieri tragically fell to his death after reportedly climbing a tower in the Gamerra barracks near Pisa.

The circumstances surrounding his death sparked investigations and led to significant changes within the military establishment.

Initial investigations into Scieri’s death resulted in the replacement of the barracks commander, Brigadier General Calogero Cirneco.

Disturbing documents exposing a prevailing culture of bullying within the Folgore and allegations of abuse emerged, causing widespread condemnation.

Former soldiers came forward, sharing accounts of the practices and mistreatment they endured. Reports of bullying incidents increased, raising concerns about the welfare of military personnel.

Scieri’s body was found two and a half days after his death at the foot of the tower in a remote area of the military compound.

After gaining all the accounts on the case and Emanuele Scieri Wikipedia, the possibility of suicide was ruled out, leaving accident or confrontation as the possible causes of his demise.

Investigations revealed injuries that were inconsistent with a fall, suggesting he may have been forced to climb the tower after a violent confrontation.

The Scieri family’s lawyer, Ettore Randazzo, filed charges against unknown individuals on three counts.

The counts included violence against the person during Scieri’s transfer, murder due to the suspicion of being forced to climb the tower, and negligence for the delayed rescue.

The controversy intensified when a collection of quotations and diagrams for elite corps officers, containing racist and fascist content as well as guidelines for bullying, was discovered.

Two former corporals were accused of aggravated voluntary homicide, while other defendants faced charges of aiding and abetting.

Twenty-four years after Scieri’s death, the case was finalized in the Court of Assizes. The verdict arrived on 14 June but, surprisingly, after more than six hours of discussion in the Council Chamber.

In these six hours, the court had asked to hear three women who, in 1999, had been included in the witness list of the prosecutor who had conducted the first investigation into the death of the para.

The statements of the three women were deemed necessary because, precisely in those days, 24 years ago, they frequented and had relations with the corporals accused of the murder.

After hearing their statement of witnesses, the two former corporals, Alessandro Panella, and Luigi Zabara, were sentenced to 26 and 18 years of imprisonment along with fines.
