Samuel Benjamin Bankman-Fried, commonly known as SBF, is a prominent American entrepreneur and investor born on March 5, 1992, on the Stanford University campus to professor parents.
After graduating from MIT in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and a minor in mathematics, Bankman-Fried initially interned and later worked full-time at Jane Street Capital.
In 2017, he co-founded the quantitative trading firm Alameda Research, which he owned approximately 90%. Likewise, he founded FTX, a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, in April 2019.

The entrepreneur expressed difficulty in defining or experiencing happiness in the conventional sense, a sentiment that many can relate to.
Bankman-Fried has been open about his use of EmSam, an antidepressant that he believes assists in maintaining focus and organization.
He had previously even gone so far as to hire a psychiatrist as a company coach who prescribes this medication.
However, during his time in custody, concerns arose regarding his access to prescription drugs, including Adderall.
While facing legal proceedings, SBF’s personal reflections, which he chose not to share on social media, revealed a complex emotional landscape.
