The news of her demise has shocked the entire Rutland town; the most devastated are her family members. As soon as the information was delivered to her family of Jessica, their heart skipped a beat, and their world crumbled in no time.

Rutland Police Officer Jessica Ebbighausen Killed In A Crash
The events leading to this heartbreaking loss unfolded on 7 July 2023, Friday afternoon, when the Rutland police department received a distress call around 2:30 pm.
The call reported that an illegal break-in was attempted by a twenty years old man Tate Rheaume at a residence on East Washington Street.
Immediately, three police officers, including Jessica, arrived at the scene. By that time, the suspect Tate already fled the scene in his vehicle, then the officers chased Rheaume across East Washington Street and U.S. Route 4.
Tragedy struck when the suspect, Tate, crossed the center line of the highways and collided with Officer Ebbighausen’s cruiser. Meanwhile, another Rutland police cruiser was also struck by the suspect truck.
Unfortunately, Jessica capitulated to her severe injuries and cuts and sadly died in the catastrophe. The Vermont State Police later escorted her body to the Chief Medical examiner’s office in Burlington for an autopsy.
Vermont State Police has taken charge of the investigation and are working precisely to identify the role of impairment and speed in this tragic accident.
Furthermore, the other two police officers who were injured were swiftly transported to Ruthland Regional medical center for treatment.
Similarly, the suspect in the accident, Tate Rheaume, is in police custody waiting for a hearing in court for his illegal behavior and inhuman activity, which cost the life of a young and responsible on-duty officer.
