On 25 November, 1993, Madhwal was born to Asha Madhwal and Ghana Nand Madhwal. He has a brother who is 12 months and 12 days older than him, named Ashish Madhwal. Both brothers were born in the city of Roorkee in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Madhwal graduated with a civil engineering degree from the College of Engineering Roorkee. This is the same place he played cricket initially.
