With core evidence, Hayne was sentenced to three years and eight months in jail on May 6, 2021, by Judge Syme.

Upon receiving a bail of $20,000, he was released from Cooma Correctional Center and is currently being held under remand until sentenced.

The former footballer’s mother, Jodie Hayne, is Australian, while his father, Manoa Thompson, is from Fiji. Jarryd was raised in a housing commission home in Minto and was born and reared in Sydney, Australia.
