This African wrestler and former WWE Champion were born on August 14, 1981, in Kumasi, Ashanti. He is a son of Kwasi and Elizabeth Sarkodie-Mensah and a sibling of Kwame and Nana Akua.
Mensah family moved to the United States in the greater Boston area, where Kofi completed his graduation from Winchester High School.

Independent Circuit (2005 – 2006)
Kingston began to train for his professional wrestling career in late 2005 and made his official wrestling debut in 2006. His first-ever wrestling promotion was Chaotic Wrestling against Evan Siks, where he was defeated for the PWF Mayhem Heavyweight Championship.
World Wrestling Entertainment
Kofi Kingston signed a developmental contract in September 2006 and was to Deep South Wrestling (DSW). Initially, his ring name was Kofi Nahaje Kingston and later was shortened to Kofi Kingston.
His first WWE main roster debut was against Charlie Haas in a dark match. After the new WWE promotion, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), he was then assigned there as a Kofi Kingston.
He is the first African to perform in a WWE promotion in history. Kingston’s debut on ECW with a win against David Owen on January 22, 2008.
 Championship Reigns
Kofi’s first championship title was the Intercontinental Championship, which he won against Chris Jericho at the Night of Champions. This win also made his first African wrestler win a championship title in WWE.
He lost the title on SummerSlam against Santino Marella. Kofi then teamed up with CM Punk for the World Tag Team Championship title. They had a championship match against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase and won the World Tag Team Championship.
This duo lost their title on December 13, to John Morrison and The Miz at a live event. On February 15, 2009, Kingston was scheduled to compete on the Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship title.
Due to the ambush by Edge, he was replaced with Edge, who later won the World Heavyweight Championship title. Kofi Kingston won a triple threat match to become the number one contender for the United States Championship.
He successfully defeated Montel Vontavious Porter to win his first United States Championship title.
The New Day
The formation of New Day was one of the best things that happened in the career of Kofi Kingston. It was a three-person team of Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston. The team made a debut on November 28, defeating Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, and Titus O’Neil.
At Extreme Rules, the Tag Team Kofi Kingston and Big E won the WWE Tag Team Championship defeating Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. They even retained their titles at Elimination Chamber match against Kidd and Cesaro, The Ascension, Los Matadores, The Lucha Dragons, and The Prime Time.
